Introducing Myself

Am I doing the blogging now…?

“Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one”

-Bruce Lee.

Here it is! The first post on my new exercise and fitness blog and yes I have put a pretty cleche quote in to start this off…but isn’t that what blogging is all about? (Probably not). Seriously though, I have very little idea about what this will turn into, how often I will commit to writing something and generally what I am suppost to do. I feel like that is how these things begin though! So here is a bit of an introduction into myself and what this blog could be about…

First question: Why have I decided to start a Fitness/Exercise when there are already a lot out there which are likely more interesting than what I will put on here?

I will start off by saying that I do not believe that anything I have to say is more important that what anyone else is saying. I am also not trying to provide professional recommendations on anything and I don’t necessarily have expert qualifications (I did a joint honours Sports and Materials science degree and have a tennis coaching qualification but that’s about it). The idea is to capture some of my experience and opinion about fitness, physical activity and sports in writing. Then, if other people want to read it that is a bonus!

Second & third questions: What is my experience of fitness and exercise? Why choose it as a topic to talk about?

Fitness and exercise is something that has been a massive part of my life since about the age of 7 when I started playing tennis. Since then I have trained to be a county level tennis player (also occasionally training at an academy); I have been going to the gym seriously since the age of 16; and have dabbled in as many sports/physical activities as I can including: athletics, archery, badminton, bouldering, caving, cricket, cycling, freestyle dance, golf, gymnastics, hip hop dance, hockey, rock climbing, running, skiing, snowboarding, squash, swimming, table tennis, trampolining, wing chun kung fu and yoga. Some of these I have focused on more seriously than others and there are other sports I have tried not on this list. However, currently my main focuses are tennis, bouldering, some running and going to the gym. But, as the title of the page, Just Love Challenges, suggests, I will try anything new and continue to push myself in what I already do. For me the metal a physical challenge is what I enjoy most about any activity!

By this point you may still be asking ‘Well what is this blog actually going to include?’ (I would also like to say that if you have stuck at reading to this far then thank you!).

The answer to that is it will likely include a little bit of everything. Not everything I have listed above, but I imagine there will be some gym related posts, some about bouldering and rock climbing, possible some tennis and running related stuff, and then a sprinkling of other things. Like I said at the start, it will be a place for me to just get some ideas down about my experience of the vast topic that is fitness which will likely change as my routines and activities change.

A final word: Even though these are only my thoughts on various topics, I do have a goal to make this blog helpful in some way. And I want it to be as helpful to as many people as I can. So if that means you gym regularly but are looking for other ideas for a gym routine, or the idea of exercise makes you want to lie down but you want to get started, I am hoping there will be something that everyone can gain from in the future.

Anyway, I hope this has been a good introdution and I look forward to seeing how this develops further! If you are interested then please subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates!
